Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008 To the Commissioners, While your efforts are noble, the requirement for merchants to maintain suppression lists is a concern to me, other Ph.D.'s and M.D.s who are trying to maintain contact with our patients, the readers of our books, and those who seek information from us. Please consider this carefully, because the legitimate publications will suffer greatly in your attempts to curb pornography (which I wholeheartedly want to curb myself.) These legitimate people are not who CAN-SPAM was designed to put out of business, but this requirement will very likely have that effect. Perhaps my BIGGEST concern is that the spammers themselves will buy these suppression lists through corrupt employees of agencies. I urge you in the strongest possible terms to reconsider its implementation in light of these problems, Respectfully, Gay Hendricks, Ph.D. California, USA
