Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008To the Commissioners, I applaud your efforts to curb the problem of unsolicited bulk email. However, I am concerned about the proposed requirement for merchants to maintain suppression lists It seems to me that this is throwing the baby out with the bathwater! The idea of a supression list could lead to problems not even thought about at it's conception. I t would damage the legitimate, hardworking sites out there irreperably and also harm the readers in a number of ways, For instance, I run a senior site. My purpose is to bring lonely seniors into a web based companionship and mitigate the loneliness that is out ther. I know this is a real need because I am also a reader. Handicapped and senior. I could not afford to keep my site and my computer going if I did not have sales from my Cyber Store. I could not get information for them and ease their advent into the net with the rules you propose. PLEASE I beg you. Think into this idea .. It would be much more damaging than Spam ever was.
