Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008 To the Commissioners, I do understand the unsolicited bulk email and am glad we are trying to do someting about it but I am conserend about the proposed requirements for merchants, regarding suppression list. The cost and problems associated with this idea. it can effect consumers and businesses alike. With so many jobs going out of the country it may make it harder for legit home based bussiness to do business. I urge you to consider this matter very carefully. Requirement of the use of suppression lists will seriously damage many of the legitimate publications available on the net. My specific concern is for harm to publishers who require permission from the consumer prior to adding them to any list. We would hate to see CAN-Spam put out small business in America, and that is what it looks like it was desinged to do. Not to mention that these suppression lists could easily fall into the hands of spammers, leading to more spam instead of less. People do not always understand what they are signing up for and the effect this will have on consumers. I was quite surprised at the potential problems this ruling could involve, and urge you in the strongest possible terms to reconsider its implementation in light of these problems, Respectfully, Cameron Marcotte USA - Kansas
