Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008 Commissioners: Thank you for addressing the problems of spam. But, one of your proposals goes too far -- the proposed requirement for that merchants should maintain suppression lists and send them out to anyone who might advertise with them. I am a one-person business that will never spam anyone. I can't afford to maintain a suppression list. I can delete people who ask to be deleted, but maintenance of a separate list is too much of an economic burder. The idea of being forced to share a suppression list with other business also strikes me as an invasion of the privacy of subscribers, as well as a HUGE burden on small business owners such as myself. That doesn't even count the risks that such sharing could put the list back into the hands of spammers. Please do not force us to maintain suppression lists or share them with those who might advertise with us. Respectfully, Susan Rogers Grass Valley, California USA
