Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008 To the Commissioners, Although almost everyone welcome Spam legislation that will reduce the amount of unsolicited mail we all receive this new legislation goes too far. Not only is it almost impossible to be able to determine who is on a suppression list but there are many marketer that use legitimate methods of email marketing. I, for example, use a double opt in method where subscribers to my newsletter are asked to confirm this subscription before they are added to my mailing list. I am very doubtful that this legislation will actually make a difference to those that spam others. After all they are already using questionable methods to lure people to a sale. This would seem like a band aid solution when the emphasis needs to be put on large corporations and ISP to be diligent and make this systems secure rather then wide open to exploitation. Please re consider this legislation as it will create major damage to those that use email as a legitimate form of marketing. Respectfully, Dave Markel Kamloops BC, Canada
