Although the law is not yet in effect, some places have already implemented it, and it is already causing me problems. My upline in my main business, Tiscali Networks, uses an autoresponder which is also used by many other companies to send 'broadcast' emails to his downline. These emails are vital to our business, and of course, we do wish to receive them. He asked me the other day for comments on an email he had sent out, but i had not received it, so i asked him to send it again, which he did. It still did not arrive. We checked he had the correct address, which he did. I checked that i had no spam-prevention software on my computer (i dont - i prefer to censor my own mail), and that my email host had not implemented anti-spam measures on my account (no, it costs money, thank God, so they have not put it onto my account, i prefer to censor my own mail). I checked my filters. I have two, neither of which are relevant. But i still was not getting the email. My upline tried sending an email with his regular email client, and that got through fine. However, the autoresponder is Getresponse.com. I believe they may have implemented an unsubscribe list system that unsubscribes from EVERY email sent out by their autoresponder. I have, in fact, recently unsubscribed from one of their other customers. This is a disaster! How many other items are being lost because of this ? How can i run my business if this sort of thing continues? I'm only a one-girl band. I'm not even into profit yet, how can i cope with this ? PLEASE rescind your daft law. If people are unable to cope with their emails, they should pay for a spam blocker. I dont like endless viagra ads and the like either, but i suffer it. But I can't suffer losing legitimate mail.
