Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008 To the Commissioners, While I applaud your efforts to curb the problem of unsolicited bulk email, I am concerned about the proposed requirement for merchants to maintain suppression lists. Yes unsolicited email is a pain but to make it more difficult, or rather nearly impossible for legitimate publishers to use email is just not acceptable. And unless we become mind readers, how are we to know the intent of those who unsubscribe from a list? On top of that, these suppression lists could easily fall into the hands of spammers and thus further compounding the SPAM problem. I urge you in the strongest possible terms to reconsider its implementation in light of these problems, Respectfully, Larry Slater The Great State of Indiana, USA
