Dear Commissioners, I hate spam I hate spam I hate spam. As a father, as a small business person, and having worked for a world technology leader (Intel). I hate spam. But what I hate worse are some of the laws being prescribed to kill it. Instead they are killing small business. At worst they are even making the spammers job easier. The suppression list requirements of this rule are just ludicrous. In fact many of the details are. In no way shape or form can I in good conscience follow them if even just out of the shere complexity. We will create a massive database that will likely help spammers, and it will severly threaten business who have the right as well as obligation to support their customers. I have many people and companies that I welcome and in fact NEED to receive information from. I don't want 1 unsubscribe having any risk of my being unsubscribed from others! There are many many other ways to help control spam. This *is not one of them*. As an example of US entrepreneurs at work, I pay $39 a year for a wonderful product called Cloudmark ( http://www.cludmark.com ) which virtually eliminates my problem (and for which I have zero vested interest other than as a user). That $39 is FAR less of a burden to me or my company then what your legislation will cost me. PLEASE do NOT pass this rule. And in fact re-read these regulations and realize that the layer upon layer of complexity makes it impossible for business or individuals to comply. Let 3rd party options in the free market take over! Or have every ISP charge 1/10 of 1 cent for each email sent. Simple and DONE!
