Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008 To Whom It May Concern:, Thank you for working to eliminate span. However, I am concerned about the proposed requirement for merchants to maintain suppression lists. Requiring suppression lists will damage all of us. My specific concern is for harm to businesspeople like me who require permission from the consumer prior to adding them to any list. They're not who CAN-SPAM is supposed to hurt, but it will hurt, and hurt me big. And what if these lists fall into the hands of spammers, leading to more spam instead of less? I can’t express how damaging this proposed policy would be; please seriously look at eliminating it so the cure is not worse than the poison!!!!!!!!
