Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008 To the Commissioners, Although any effort to stop unsolicited email (spam) is fully supported by myself and others of like mind, I believe your Suppression List law can be damaging to legitimate businesses such as mine. I never send email to anyone who has not asked me to do so and as I run courses over the Internet, I need to be in touch with my students at all times. My lists are designed to ensure I do so and if any one of my students, accidentally or for whatever reason, complained, that would place me in a position of being unable to carry on with my business. Both extremely damaging to myself and to all other students who are training for a new career. I urge you, therefore, to take my comments into consideration when implementing the Act. Sincerely, Robert Shields Principal The Robert Shields College Sent from The United Kingdom
