Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008 To the Commissioners, I want to commend you all on trying to solve this outrageous spam problem we have with email. Like many of my fellow business owners we that are responsible businesspeople do not indorse the use of spam & would like to see an end to it. However, the rulings that you all are considering will do more harm than good we feel. It would make our businesses ineffective in moving are goods & services & that could bring a serious halt in the use of the internet as we know it now. The spammers are going to continue to do what they do unless you can actual find & punish them. It isn't right for the responsible one to be punished for something they are not doing. I am a small business owner & there are many like me who have turned to the internet to try & make up for jobs they loss or just to make some extra money to help with the family needs. I for one have not seen a drop in the amount of spam since the Can Spam Act was passed & feel like it would be the same with these new regulations. Something must be done & there are companies trying to tackel this problem out there. But, let's not do something in a such a hurry that it does more harm than good. People requesting informaiton need to be as responsible as those sending it also. It would be too time consuming for me to run my business the way you are proposing that we send out our emails. It is time consuming enough as it is. I just ask that you think long and hard before making any rash decisions to end spam which might it turn end email use & the internet as we know it. Thank you, Lorenzo Rothery
