Small business DEPENDS on being able to respond to requests for information on products/services; and the success of a small business is frequently dependant upon it's ability to follow-up with existing customers with discounts, new products/services, and special offers. Any further regulation of e-mail functionality deeply threatens the livelihood of many thousands of small business people. It is only right that mass mailings, porn, and other UNETHICAL methods be regulated and violators be punished, but we do nothing to better our great nation by removing legitimate marketing options from a multitude of our citizens.
