Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008 To the Commissioners, Firstly, as someone who receives anywhere from 60 to 100 unsolicited emails a day, I am grateful for your interest and work on curbing this problem. As a legitimate Internet Marketer, my email addresses gets out to many people with whom I hope to establish a business relationship (which is a good thing.) Unfortunately it also gets into the hands of those who behave irresponsibly and I must spend a good deal of time and money filtering out the spam. Although many do provide for removing me from future mailings, the most aggrevating are the bogus addresses that cannot be contacted. This is an area I would most appreciate your help in. However, it seems consideration is being given to making my business imposible in a practical sense by requiring me to use suppression lists. Although I am very understanding for the need to act responsibly as a online publisher, I must ask that as Commissioners you too consider carefully the impact this decision will have on all of us in business. The Internet provides for commerce, and starting a business for many is out of reach offline due to start up costs. Such a decision as you are considering will make conducting a new business extremely difficult (not to mention regulatory requirements that make the tax code child's play to comply with.) I urge you again to consider carefully the broad and long term damage to legitimate business your decision will have. Thank you for your efforts and good intentions. With respect, Harold Groschwitz Wisconsin, USA
