Re: CAN-SPAM Act Changes, Project No. R411008 To the Commissioners, I hate getting SPAM as much as the other guy, but as a merchant, as well as a consumer, I'm worried that the new proposed requirement for merchants to maintain suppression lists, goes too far. As a small merchant, I don't know if I can afford to do everything that would be required of me: both monetarily and time wise. Please take the time to reconsider the immense downturn in revenue and tax receipts that could be at jeapordy if every piece of email was now labeled unsolicited because a subscriber forgot that they signed up and so on. If someone unsubscribes from my newsletter, they're immediately removed and will no longer receive an email from me. I believe that the CAN-SPAM act was enacted to get rid of those silly spammers out there, not legitimate businesses and consumers providing great quality newsletters and information. I was quite surprised at the potential problems this ruling could involve, and urge you in the strongest possible terms to reconsider its implementation in light of these problems that I am reading about currently. Please keep the small business owner alive and don't take away my source of income from providing a great service to my clients and to my subscribers who signed up for my free newsletter. If someone wants to unsubscribe, it takes just a click. If someone forgets they signed up and complains, I'm out of business and that doesn't seem fair. Respectfully, Fabio Marciano New Jersey, USA
