Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008 To the Commissioners, I know spam is a problem as I am always checking my spam email box for legimate email however the concept of a suppression list is really scary. In my own limited experience any centralized collection of email lists is always prone to abuse - I have seen it happen time and time again that I customize my email address any time I sign on to anything because I know that it will very likely be passed on or stolen by spammers. Requiring everyone to submit to a suppression list is just asking for mass confusion and crippleing of the internet particularily when the consumer has opted into a list legimately not realizing that he is on a suppression list. How would one straighten the whole thing out. Ironically I can forsee snail mail becoming more efficient. I don;t think CAN-SPAM was designed to put out of legimate services out of business, but this will very likely have that effect. This ruling potentially can do a lot of damage I urge you emphatically to reconsider in view of all the potential problems Respectfully, Les Raketti BC Canada
