I think the do not e-mail registry is a great idea. I think one big way that the act is violated is when you buy or inquire from one company and then they put your e-mail address on a commercial list and then 1000 other companies start spamming your e-mail address. This was totally unsolicited on your part and these companies should not be allowed to share your e-mail with anyone regardless of their e-mail privacy disclosures. It should be against the law for a commercial organization to share an individuals e-mail address with anyone.
