In addition to my answers above I support the written presentation made by the International Council of Online Professionals. I also wish to say that there are a few questions in the above list that I do not understand the wording and or intention of, and I have chosen to leave those questions blank as I do not wish to be misinterpreted or respond in a manner that is contrary to my opinons and experiences. My primary concern is that I am on a good number of opt-in lists that I enjoy participating in and would hate to see these publications being targeted for violations due to the accusations of another list member who may have just forgotten that they opted in to receive the material. I am also very concerned that the rules established in the Can Spam Act will open the door for individuals who carry a grudge for whatever unreasonable or competitive purpose to target legitimate businesses for violations when the accusations will result in persecution and financial loss to legal and ethical business entities and thier owners. While I am not handicapped nor limited in any of my physical or mental capabilities, I see the internet as a great means of allowing others who may have such limitations of establishing a way to earn a living in a world that is otherwise dominated by large corporate business entities who would not provide them a place wherein they can independently provide for themselves and develop a deeper sense of self worth. Email marketing is the primary means for seeking out individuals who may be interested in purchasing products that these potential customers may not know exist. It is sad that there are many individuals who have abused it with sexually explicit and unethical advertising practices, but any method to stop this abuse should not be a means for persecuting business owners who are only trying to expose others to the availability of thier products and it should have protective measures built into any rules established to protect the owners of true opt-in publication lists. Thank you so much for hearing my concerns.
