I think it is really outrageous that unwanted and frequently disgusting e-mails can pour freely into my inbox. I suggest that every one be deemed to have opted out unless they indicate otherwise in writing. This is not analogous to regular mail because junk e-mail can be sent at almost no cost to the sender. It is certainly a proper function of the FTC to control, to the greatest possible degree, the conduct that is now spoiling the use and enjoyment of a formerly useful aspect of modern life!
