Before the act I averaged 4.3 spam messages per hour; after the act, I average 3.4 message per hour. They all promote drugs, sex, and money related topics. I am sure much of them originate from off-shore; I do not use the unsubscribe feature as I am very confident that only adds me to more lists since it means I actually looked at the email instead of deleting without viewing which I do with the Mail Washer program. If the sender is not on my good list, the message gets marked for deletion. Unlike the Do Not Call Registry (which has worked very well fo rme), email is world wide and cannot easily be regulated.
