Unfortunately, the SPAM I recieve is not from legitimate marketers. I only wish. I say give the current act is fine for legitimate marketers. We need to let them make a living. As long a they have an "opt out" key on each email I don't care bout them. The SPAM I receive is from the SPAM "underworld". A group who could care less about any act of congress and most likely originates from a country who does not care about our CAN SPAM Act. Passing a "Do Not Email" list will be futile and only serve to hurt legitimate organizations. The groups who perpetuate these emails are not going to care. They will find new technologies to hide their identities or they will move overseas altogether and SPAM away all day. I suggest we don't spend another penny on SPAM acts. Instead, please give a huge monetary award to the company or individual who comes up with the best way to fight SPAM using technology. The catch is that this person may not commercialize the product. The U.S. Government will make it available for free to all citizens. All ISP's will be armed with this free service as well. A government division will be set up to constantly monitor the program's effectiveness and update the software. Updates are again made available for free. You have to fight technology with technology...not bills.
