I have a home computer that I use with the intent email received should be from those "I specifically" have given my e-address to: such as family, friends, non-profit assn. such as Red Cross/ Democrat Party and specific products or services "I have specifically" requested. Yet less that 5% of my emails are from these sources. Some days I receive 200-300 emails per day from parties I've never heard of and for products or services I have no interest in. It is not right that if I request info from a source that they then sell/give my info to all others that they benefit from but do not serve me thereby cluttering up my life & making it extremely difficult for me to go thru my email to find what I do want in a timely manner. The opt out does not always work, I'll opt out & sometimes not receive that specific email again but then receive like emails from others OR they will change their address so that by even blocking sender doesn't help because their address is changed. X-rated & Single Ads are the worst at this I should be able to go to a web site & request info from that site without being inundated from all other info I'm not interested in. I will always "uncheck" the box giving authorization for other info "they determine" interests me but again that does not seem to work either OR the "From" will be from a web/party I'm familiar but the content is actually a private party solicting for something totally unrelated to the original web/party. I am constantly inundated w/E's from online, colleges/education, casinos, car loans/quotes, mortgage loan/quotes, "quicky loans", single ads, home business opportunities, private party pharmaceuticals,x-rated, etc. all of which I have never requested & have no interest in. PLUS they don't just send one email but many in a day over multiple days/weeks. It is SO easy to lookup anything online, I should have the freedom to lookup whatever I wish info on & choose to request that & only that from that party & only that party. My opinion is, unless I have specifically given my address to a party for personal contact from that specific party for specific contact for a specific reason or for a specific update on that specific reason I should not be receiving that email and if I do it is a direct invasion of my privacy. ALSO A POINT TO CONSIDER: Due to the fact that I have a large family, many friends & as Disaster Chair for the Red Cross on Maui have a need to on occassion send out/forward an Email to multiple addresses to pass on relevant info to parties from my personal address book who have need or want this info, there needs to be a way to distinguish this type email from the for profit spam. Please, please legislate/regulate this ASAP
