Since the implementation of the ACT, my spam email has significantly INCREASED, with 99% in clear violation of the letter and spirit of the ACT. It is not working. Consumers need an OPT IN, and not an OPT OUT law. Write the law to be clear and simple...if it unsolicited by an OPT IN submission from the consumer, and the context is commercial, it is unlawful spam and heavy fines should be levied against any and all activities that facilitated the origination and delivery of the unwanted email. Additionally, if a valid email address and physical street address and phone number is not included, it should be a violation of the ACT and fines levied. As it stands today, the ACT is a toothless tiger that is mewing and not growling.
