Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008To the Commissioners,We all agree that unsolicited bulk email is a waste of our time and energy and I'm glad that this issue is being addressed. However, I am concerned aboutthe proposed requirement for merchants to maintainsuppression lists.I feel that the additional effort and cost to maintain this information is going to be damaging to my online business, which already has thin margins for profitability. I must urge you to consider this matter most carefully.I am a sender and recipient of various online publications and can see a wide variety of issues and problems associated with the requirement to use of suppression lists. My main concern is that these "suppression lists" will eventually make it into the wrong hands and be used by the spammers to create more spam. The intent of this new rules should be to protect consumers but NOT to put legitimate online businesses out of business. I urge you to reconsider the implementation of these rules based on the concerns provided.Respectfully,Peter WelkinCalifornia, US
