Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008To the Commissioners,I hate unsolicited bulk email too, but do you have any idea what NEGATIVE impact the proposed requirement for merchants to ?maintain suppression lists? is going to have on those us who are ethical and legitimate Internet-based entrepreneurs?Whoever the staff persons are who are behind this, simply have not adequately briefed you on the unfathomableconsequences of this proposed action. This is a slippery slope to destruction of an unintended (and very large) set of honest business people ? providers of legitimate publications that online consumers ASK TO RECEIVE. They're not who CAN-SPAM was designed to put out of business, but this requirement will very likely have that effect.I don?t like getting ?junk mail? in my mail box either, but you I do not need for you to mandate excessive limitations because I know how to throw it away. When it comes to limiting ?free speech,? I urge you to err on the side of freedom. Respectfully,Ronald R. Mueller Edgewater, Maryland
