Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008To the Commissioners,America has always been the land of opportunity and allows even a simple guy like me to start our own business and provide for our families as best we can.Little mom and pop businesses are not who CAN-SPAM was designed to put out of business, but this requirement will very likely have that effect.I believe in your efforts to stop the problem ofunsolicited bulk email. However, I don't believe the proposed requirement for merchants to maintain suppression lists is the right way to go.So much damage will be done to legitimate businesses, that I ask you to think this through carefully.I pray that God will guide you in this decision. These suppression lists could easily fall into the hands of spammers. Why not ban the development and sale of bulk email programs and email address harvester software?Respectfully,Denis GardnerNew Hampshire, USA
