My wife and I are business owners through Quixtar and we don't believe there is a more honest and reputable company around. Any individual, as an independent business owner, can go around the rules of Quixtar. They are after all sitting around kitchen tables around the country without a supervisor looking over their shoulder. How would these proposals keep someone who wanted to be dishonest or misrepresent anything, from doing just that? I believe Quixtar and the vast majority of the business owners run their business with the utmost integrity. It would be unfortunate if some of these proposals were passed as it would kill our business. 7 DAY WAITING PERIOD: Why? What would the benefit be for the prospective business owner? If registration money is refundable should the new business owner change his mind, wouldn't that be a better option than preventing him from getting started when he is most excited. LIST OF REFERENCES: Not only is this impossible in many cases, it also seems to me that this would be an invasion of privacy for the other business owners. This would also enable those references to possibly steal your prospect. How would a new business owner be able to give local references especially if he was sponsored by someone 600 miles away as I was. Neither he nor I knew any other local business owners. LAWSUITS: Although very cumbersome and probably worthless, I would not be opposed as long as the only requirement is to make available SETTLED suits. Any pending litigation would be worthless since you wouldn't know if there was any validity to the suit. Dishonest companies probably wouldn't bother to comply with this requirement so what's the point? SPECIFIC EARNINGS DISClOSURES: We don't give any specific earnings numbers. Can't. Every business is different and depending on volume and growth, earnings can vary quite a bit. What's wrong with telling them what the average business owner earns monthly -- which Quixtar does on almost every page of the business plan given to prospects. PERSONAL FINANCIAL SUBSTANTIATION: Two things -- It's none of their business and it has no bearing on their potential. They can make much more than I do or less. It all depends on what they do with their business.
