I have been an independent business owner since 1993, initially with Amway and now with Quixtar. I have always thought that an honest approach is the only way to build a long lasting business relationship and have done my best to represent my business as truthfully as possible. I believe the rationale behind the proposal is good. I do find that some of the proposed requirements would severly limit my efforts to expand my business. The seven day waiting period would severly dampen my sponsoring abilities. I feel that is not fair to neither the sponsor nor the prospect. Would you make someone wait seven days before starting a new traditional business or job? Or how about a seven day waiting period before joing a club such as a health club? It is the same type of decision, usually made based on the information given and excitement. If someone has been given adequate information then they should be able to make their own decision on when to start their business. Quixtar allows 30 days for an IBO to get a refund on their business start up cost, which is enough time to decide if the opportunity is really right for them. The second part of the proposal that concerns me is the requirement of giving the names of other local IBOs for my prospect to call. I am an independent business owner and how I run and operate my business is not exactly the same as someone else. What if someone on that list is not of the same character as I and tarnishes the reputation of my company by their behavior. That seems very unfair to me. Also, I would not like to be put in the situation of someone calling me to learn about someone else's business. That person may be a complete stranger to me and even though I can talk highly about the corporation I am involved with, I cannot know for sure about the person. I would also feel very uncomfortable with a lot of people I don't know having my personal information. Could that put my family in danger? Especially as my business and my income grows. I am currently a platinum ibo with a business that will surely grow beyond that and the safety of my family is high priority. Thank you for your consideration of these points.
