I have been an independent consultant with Celebrations by Lillian Vernon for 21 months. This business has allowed me to be at home with my family and my children as they are young, offering us flexibility and also a viable business. That said, I believe that the proposed rule would challenge our businesses greatly. As one of the most crucial times in getting your direct sales business off the ground is during that period of initial excitement in the first 2 weeks. All business materials are fully refundable for an entire year in our business. Should someone join and start their own business, they have full awareness that they can cancel at any time and receive a refund. This is very ethical business practice ~ there is no risk to the individual once they sign their contract with our organization.
