To whom it may concern, I have read the FTC document concerning the proposed changes to MLM type businesses. I find them to be unfair and possibly unlawful! I know scamming and fraud is something we can all do without; but there must be a better way! How come people can go to Atlantic City, Vegas, and other casinos and be completely deceived as to how they can WIN BIG! Where is the DISCLAIMER or 7 Day notice that we are in reality suckers who are paying out lots of money as we are scammed and our chances to WIN are worse than being hit by lighting on a sunny day at the north pole! How come the local gas station has no disclaimer or 7 day notice my tank of gas will cost me 40% more next fill up or that my vehicle will perform to a certain standard?? How come I can be told to buy or sell shares of a stock on Wall Street by an advisor with nearly the promise of profit, when in reality I can lose my SHIRT? No, disclaimer, NO 7 day notice!! The reason for all this is, that any business BIG or SMALL, Privately owned or Corporate is in business trying to make money and earn a living working within the laws and regulations including paying taxes! No exceptions! All of the above mentioned contain a level of fraud, deception, risk. But as with this, there are also great benefits and the consumer needs to be aware of this far more than anything else! So, with this being said, why are we singling out MLM's?? They, or at least the one I am in is a REAL company with REAL products! A completely legit business platform subject to all the same rules and regulations of any company in the US. Just so happens, that my business chooses to operate its advertising, training, selling online! Again, fraud, deception and risk are at large; but, opportunity is the MAIN objective! Infact, the word OPPORTUNITY is SORT of a disclaimer in and of itself! It indicates to the consumer that certain skill or effort is needed to succeed with still the RISK of failure! In fact, isn't this the basic RULES of LIFE and SURVIVAL??? Now the personal part of this! My wife and I and 2 children reside in a home here in NY with an exuberant MORTGAGE rapidly rising Taxes, utilities, and fuel costs! No disclaimers or 7 day notices on these!! We both work full time and we are barely making ends meet!! In fact, if NOT for the OPPORTUNITY I was drawn to, ( MINUS the disclaimers and 7 day notice), had NOT reached me; I currently would be forced to sell my house or not feed my children or default on my bills!! Our employers obviously will not pay us the increased amout to cover the massive cost inflations of late! So, with all things considered EQUAL , why would the FTC take this away from me causing irrepareable damage to me and my family? Especially, when the proposed changes affect the legit businesses over the fraudulent ones. I am in business to make money and help others do the same to achieve the AMERICAN DREAM! The possible alternative solution, Since this is a legit business and company, and falls in the same realm of rules and regulations on my end, why not so on the governments end? All companies are registered at the Better Business Bureau and are subject to meet certain criterea. Fraud can be minumized, but not eliminated. Risk is always involved in all of lifes decisions. OPPORTUNITY is something we are all presented with from time to time; some good, bad, or indiffernt! We have to decide for ourselves what will be worth the risk VS benefit we may be rewarded. I feel the ability to share an opportunity with someone should not be tampered with, but the legitamacy of that opportunity should be valid and honest, and if claims are made, proof or disclaimers should be furnished ONLY upon consumers requesting such information if needed to make a decision. Failure to do this, if reported to proper authorities; should result in fines or other means of discipline! Anyone asking for money upfront for any undisclosed opportunity must be prohibited! Respectfully, Bob M
