6 CFR Part 4370, would have a severe negative impact on entrepreneurs such as myself in the Network Marketing industry.- I find the proposed regulations objectionable. My biggest objection is the use and release of MY Personal Information to people I do not know. There are already problems with Identity Theft. Both my husband and I have had our information used by others.- Another concern is the squashing of free enterprise. I have been in many MLM's going back to the late 80’s. The legitimate MLM's take great care to protect themselves, their products and members by complying with existing legal requirements. They provide and have training and materials for members to use to comply with the regulations. In my personal experience, I am pleased to say that most businesses I have worked, have taken action to remove or disqualify members after repeated violations of the rules.<br> When people fail to make money in MLM's, many times, it is their failure to do anything with the business opportunity or to follow the tried and proven methods shown in training seminars, calls, tapes, CD’s, DVD’s and printed materials. There is no regulation that can protect people from their own lack of initiative.- Mandating a 7 day period BEFORE someone can sign up with a company is also stupid. We already have a 3 day rule after a product purchase for the person to change their mind. That same rule could be applied much more sanely to someone signing up with a company. Let them sign up on the spot and have a 3 day cooling off period. Even a real estate purchase isn’t this restrictive. When I find something I like, I want it now. I want to be able to get the product in my hands and try it right away. So making me, as a business buyer, wait 7 days before I could even get the ball rolling is too restrictive. Besides, sometimes the only way to get inside information is to be inside.- This is not in my opinion a very well thought out regulation. It needs to die. It is not the answer to the problem of scams and fraud. I joined 4 companies that were later exposed as money games or outright frauds. I don’t think disclosure laws would have helped because a con is a con. Those who perpetrate scams and fraud do not and will not follow the regulation anyway. Please do not punish the honest people for the sins of the cons and scam artists. - This regulation opens the door to other possible crimes besides identity theft. I do not want the government telling people in an MLM they have to give out my Personal Information as a requirement of business. It is a violation of my privacy. It takes away my control and choice of who has my information. If the current business owner will not be in direct contact with the potential purchaser, that purchaser has no right to have the other person’s information without their express consent. I want the choice. - And another thing. If you’re going to make the companies and sellers do all this paperwork and background checking, it makes the same nonsense to put restrictive rules on the buyers, the people who are looking for businesses. Maybe they should prove they are honest and haven’t had any lawsuits against them or that they can understand English or they have more than two cents to rub together. They also should make an affidavit that they will work, won’t whine and will take personal responsibility for their own action or inaction as the case most often is. - There are enough things we have no control over today, please don’t kill the entrepreneurs of the world with this ridiculous legislation. Yes, there need to be enhanced rules and regulations for home businesses, but this is too restrictive. - Our economy is supported by small businesses. Do not exact undue hardship on us. We have enough restrictive government meddling. Please don’t allow our society to become any more “big brother”ish than it already is. - Respectfully - Linda Goodwin, 4-Ecorp & Sportron
