I am opposed to Business Opportunity Rule R511993 for these reasons: All of my customers are consumers. To be a consumer member all that is needed is a driver's license # and $19.95 for which they receive information and samples. Often with a special promotion the fee is waived. If anyone decides to become a business builder, that is when social security # or taxpayer ID is needed. In NC there is a provision allowing any consumer to return purchases within a 3 day period; I think this is a national ruling as well. In addition, Shaklee has a money-back guarantee for anyone who is not pleased with the products. Within 2 years Shaklee will also refund almost all of the money to a business builder who is not happy or decides not to have a business. Why is a 7 day waiting period necessary? I am especially concerned about having to provide at least 10 people who live nearby and have bought Shaklee or have a business. What an opportunity for someone to hack into another person's identity! My business is VERY small, mostly to help people, and the sheer time to comply with this would be overwhelming, not to mention an invasion of privacy. I became a Shaklee consumer about 14 years ago and decided to share with others about 8 years ago. Very few of my customers even order online either because they do not have a computer or (and this is a BIG reason!) because they are afraid of identity theft over the computer. Imagine their reaction if I told them I might be giving out their personal information to someone else they do not know. PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW THIS RULING TO BE ACCEPTED. Thank you very much. Nancy R.
