Dear FTC: In reference of Business Opportunity Rule R 511993, I wanted to take this opportunity and share my thoughts and feelings about it. We appreciate your mission to protect us from fraud. It makes me feel confortable that you are aware of dishonet dealings, and is trying to help us. In further investigating your proposal, many concerns arised, so here I will share them with you. To require a company to disclose personal information of 10 sales people nearest to a new distributor makes me very unconfortable. My privacy and of my family is very important to me. There are already to many ways of people getting our personal information from public records, internet, etc. I really would appreciate this not being part of your proposal, as this would influence me in not joining any company, since I do not want my personal information shared. Earning Clains - the people that are dishonet and using fraud to make money will never report accurate data, only the honest companies will. So I do not see how this would help at all. Actually it would hurt the honest companies as they know would have to take time and pay staff to report and they are the good guys. The bad guys would do what they always do. Please re-consider. Litigation reporting - If that is part of the plan, then the biggest part of all would be to require the posting of the outcome, otherwise what would that accomplish? Just uncessary concern, without ever knowing results. It does not seem productive or helpful at all. Elimination of the $500 business threshold- I am confused, direct selling is not the same as a franchise, seems like things are getting mixed up. I could not afford a franchise. I can afford a good home based business and that has helped me when I could not work. I am waiting for my check in the mail to help me pay my electric bill in the middle of summer. Please don't take that away or make it more difficult. This is a land of opportunity and I work very hard with an honest company, and your proposal would hurt me and my family, not help and protect as it is your intention. For a person to have to wait 7 days before they make a decision to start a business is very od. Once I make a decision I take immediate action, that would cause frustration, delay in a person's ability to work and start making money to help the family budget. Not sure that this would be of help at all. Of course since I am coming from a legitimate business opportunity I can see how this can hurt us. It would make it very difficult for the hard working person to be able to earn that extra money working with direct sales. Again, I request that you re-consider Business Opportunity Rule R511993 We need rules that help and make a difference for the good, not that hurt people and take away their business opportunity. Thanks for taking the time to read my comments. Sincerely, . Skarzinski
