My wife and I have been an Independent Business owner (IBO) of Quixtar for 4 1/2 years. We have reached the Founders Platinum level. Our next goal is the Sapphire level. The Quixtar business fits very well into our lifestyle. My wife has been able to become a stay-at-home mom and we love the flexibility the free enterprise business system offers = "those who give get". We enjoy a business like this because we realize our pay raise becomes effective when we do. This business weeds out those with no or low character and integrity and only those that truely want to help others succeed get very far in this business. We feel there is absolutely no need for the proposed changes by the FTC. When we were registered we were given enough information to make an informed decision. When we sponsor others we provide them with similar information we were told/given. We are up front with prospective IBO's and explain to them that it is not a get rich business and that it will take work and an investment of their time and effort to get results. It's amazing how lazy most people are and this initial "screening interview" quickly filters out those folks. The initial cost to get started in the TEAM Business is around $270. The new IBO gets some product, two website subscriptions and a book for this. If the new IBO decides to cancel the Quixtar contract they can get some of this cost back. In the past 4 1/2 years out of hundreds of registrations through our business there have only about 5 instances where people chose to "back out" and request their money back. If the proposals the FTC is recommending are put into effect it would unnecessarily put a heavy burden on us by consuming valuable time and resources that would slow the growth of our business growth. Literally taking money out of our pockets. It would reduce our choices in the "Free Enterprise" business world. Our country was founded on free enterprise principles - please don't impede the fairly simple and straight forward process that is currently in place. People of varying socio-economic levels join the Quixtar Business all the time and further constraints could and likely would discourage them from starting or continuing this type of business "It's just to many headaches and red tape". My wife and I realize not all so called "home based businesses" are on the up and up and that you deal with them all. This is no different than any group where a small number of people ruin it for everyone. We applaud your hard work to this end, but please don't institute more "red tape" and put an undue burden on those of us who are operating a total above board business and are truely committed to helping others achieve their goals and dreams. We help ourselves by helping others. It is truely a win:win business partnership. Sincerely, Tom and Liz Moris
