We appreciate the FTC trying to protect prospects by fully understanding the business opportunity in which they are choosing to embark upon. We have been IBO's for 12 years, beginning with Amway and transferring to Quixtar in 1999. We have thoroughly enjoyed our association with the Quixtar Corporation and the BWW organization. This business has blessed our lives more than we ever imagined it could! We obtained the level of 7,500 PV initially in our 3rd year and expect to be in Platinum qualification by Sept 2006. Anytime we have needed help or had questions about operating our business, the Quixtar staff has been there. We have never felt misled by anyone who works at the corporation or those in our line of sponsorship. We were told what to expect from owning our own networking business and inform our potential partners likewise. None of us benefit when an individual is misinformed and consequentially quits the business. In an effort to find and develop leaders, we take pride in being truthful about what it takes to succeed. Thankfully so, this business has by no means been an easy, get rich quick opportunity. No one ever said it would be. In fact, our sponsors gave us a business pack that fully explained how the business was to be built structurally, along with the rules and regulations of then the Amway business. We did think we'd be farther along than we are now. However, we've had some personal life challenges that altered that, one being we lost our first child at six weeks of age. Thus, we know that it takes dedicated time and effort to accomplish our goals. That's the beauty of owning our own business. It makes it so much more worth the effort. There is such a feeling of self-accomplishment when we know we've had to work for our rewards. Thus, we are concerned about this new proposed rule and how it could possible affect the future success of our own business and new business owners alike. First, It could hurt us if we were required to provide a list of local IBOs for our prospects to contact before they decide to register. What if the person doesn't like someone on the list and decides not to get involved based on an opinion of another individual. Or if the person realizes someone he knows is an IBO who didn't bother to share the opportunity with him, yet he decides to get in business with that other person. Then our rewards would be, in a sense, taken from us and given to someone who hadn't worked for it. Secondly, We are not comfortable having to give our personal address, phone number, etc. to every single prospect that just looks at the business. That would be a violation of privacy, not to mention what about the safety of our family! Are other traditional businesses forced to disclose their personal info to future local business owners? It is not necessary to have that type info to make a quality business decision. We are not federal offenders here. Next, why do we need to disclose our personal income earnings to a new person? People's income potential is based on their own work ethic. Someone who registers under us can easily make more than us. Why hinder them from even getting started based on our income level. We fully intend and expect to move on in the business, but as we mentioned, we've had personal life issues that delayed our financial growth. Does this mean that someone else can't do better than us? These are just a few of the flaws we see with this proposed new rule. Over all, we see that these new guidelines are basing the potential success on that of others and it should not be so. Not everyone is an NFL star or a Noble Prize winner. We are fortunate for that. We are happy that right now this is a fair level playing field opportunity. We are concerned that by changing the rules will affect all in a negative manner. Thank you so much for having our best interest in mind. However, we ask you to please reconsider this change and to leave the rules as they are. Sincerely, Brent & Kristen Landry
