To Whom it May Concern, I am writing in regards to the new business opportunity rule. I am a single mom who is trying to better my life and my childs. I have been in this business for 11 months now. I was looking for something I could do from home using the internet. This has been a godsend for me. I am able to work at home, the hours that I choose, and still be able to be with my daughter. Doing this type of business has forced me out of my comfort zone and helped me to become a better public speaker. I still have some growing to do, but this has provided me with some wonderful opportunities. I have met a lot of wonderful people, who I now call my friends. I realize there are some unscrupulous people out there, having been taken by some myself. By no means is the company I represent one of them. They have high moral and ethical standards, and there are some people I meet doing this business, that I would not want joining me. They aren't the type of people I want in my business. In regards to the 10 nearest existing sales people, after 11 months, I still don't know who else is involved in the same company as I am in my area. I think it would be hard for someone to have to go through the paper and phone work to find out who else there is. Each person operates at their own comfort level, and may not wish to advertise as much as the next person. Plus, some people are only distributors to get the product at wholesale prices. The seven day waiting period seems a little impractical. In most direct sales companies, we're talking very minimal investment to get started. If we were talking thousands of dollars as a start-up expense, I'd be all for it. In a business such as ours, people want to get started right-away. They should have done their research before they signed up. I am not a well versed person, I say what's in my heart. I know we all need guidelines and rules to follow. I don't and won't take advantage of people, as I have been taken advantage of myself. I don't feel that the companies who are legitimate and follow the rules should be penalized, because others choose to deceive and take advantage of others. I am a consumer also and want to be protected from those fraudulent groups, but I don't want my opportunity to be involved in a direct selling company to be hindered by rules that lump us in with others who are deceitful. There are a lot of people out there from middle-class America who get involved in this type of business, because it affords them the little extras in life they would like to give their families, without having to take on a second job. Thank You for your time. Sincerely, Deb Kline
