I have been a PartyLite Consultant for 4 years now. I started my PartyLite business to earn additonal income, to help payoff some bills. The person who sponsored me into PartyLite gave me all the information I wanted and needed to know. The fact that I did not have to wait to get started made it that much more appealling to me. Start earning income right away, you just can't beat that. The income I earn has allowed me to partake in alot of things; mainly, it has allowed me to be home with my son and husband when it has been a neccessasity. Right after my husband's heart attack a year ago, I was able to be home to help take care of him, and to also run His business while he was down. No other job offers these benefits. I am raising my son, not a daycare somewhere. The shear joy on my son's face because he can partake in school events or extra curricular activities is priceless. I have my PartyLite business to thank for that. You are asking us to forgo all Privacy laws, and are wanting to make it more difficult for people to move ahead in this world. WHY would you want to hold the people back like that? It is not only my income that you would be affecting, but the income of all those wishing to better themselves. I know that when I became a PartyLite consultant, it made me feel better that I could start right away and there were NO RISKS in it. If I didn't like it, I could "quit" at any time. With these proposed regulations, you are taking the "NO RISK" factor away from potential people. You, with your regulations will make it seem that there are more risks to it than there really are. PartyLite does not keep anything hidden from anyone, THEY are the most honest company I have ever done business with and for. As for the referances, our future sponsors have every opportunity to meet more than enough people in the business. I am asking that you reconsider some of the requirements you are proposing to regulate the direct sales industry. The proposals you are suggesting would make my business much more difficult and possible impact my income. Specifically, in terms of the references requirement, I would never feel comfortable provinding the personal contact informatin of other people in PartyLite, nor would I want my own personal information given out freely. It is one thing to give out my own information to someone I am meeting in person, it is another, for someone else to give out that information to someone I have never met. I feel good about sharing PartyLite's very REAL business opportunity with others, and want to continue to easily introduce PartyLite to more people who cound benefit as I have. The regulations you are proposing would hinder me from doing so -- and would hinder others in starting their business in the timeframe they choose. Please know, that I'm thankful that we have the FTC working to protect average consumers like me, but in this case, you will be working against me, impacting my income, my future and my family's future. Please reconsider the regulatins you are proposing. Respectfully yours, Wilma Burns
