I am a 65 year old widow with a government pension. Because it is a government pension, I do not draw Social Security from my deceased husband's credits. When I saw this business, I saw it as a way to add to my retirement income, and cope with inflation. This income helps with my medical expenses as well as increases in cost of living, such as increased gas prices. I agree with the goal of the FTC to keep the direct selling industry, fair and honest, to all people involved. However, I have serious concerns about the proposed rule changes. I feel that the seven day waiting period is arbitrary. In other businesses a contract to do business can be done immediately; so this seems unfair to our business. We do have a money-back guarantee for our registration. As to finding 10 IBO's for references, I feel if someone is compatible and wants to do business with you, they will. If they're not comfortable with you, they won't. This requirement is also not present inother businesses. If you want to buy a car from someone, you don't have to wait seven days, and you don't have to contact 10 other sales people to see if you are getting the best deal. In our free enterprise system, one of those other sales persons would probably offer you a better deal. As to proof of income claims and proofs, unless you had acess to other people's Federal Income Tax Returns it would be an impossible requirement to meet. As to providing legal allegations against the corporation, we refer them to the Better Business Bureau. Again I do applaud your efforts to improve this industry. I tell my prospects that this is not a get rich quick scheme, and that you do not make money in our business for head-hunting, or recruiting people. I feel that the practice of paying people to register other people should be made illegal. I also feel that the practice of requiring people to buy a lot of inventory product should be illegal.
