July 11, 2006 * Federal Trade Commission/Office of the Secretary Washington DC 20580 * Regarding: Business Opportunity Rule, R511993 ******* Hi, **** I am an IBO registered with a Quixtar business and have been since March 2002. I was shown the opportunity by my now sponsor, shown around the website, introduced to other team members (my mentors now), attended a hotel presentation where I met an expanded group and saw the plan again. I was very proactive about getting information and without hesitation every question was answered. This was an answer to my prayers. **** I was told that this was a proven business model with a system of teamwork, training, and association with a well-established company. It never appeared as a get-rich-quick deal, and from people I heard, talked to, at various meetings and seminars, the success was in the journey, the monies would come, if I just didn’t quit, stuck to the proven system our team had in place. It is a simple business, but not easy, I was told. Learn the skills, be consistent, stick with the team, and go for it. The only failures anyone I spoke with or heard mentioned, were those who quit. The business model is remarkable, the training and hands-on team are the keys. **** I registered within 24 hours for about $150 dollars which included a sample package of the kinds and quality of products I could get to use and/or sell, if I chose. It was explained that there were tools to use to build the business and mentors to lead and walk along with me. Just to comment on the proposed 7-day wait rule: I had just been laid off 9 days before, I’d already signed with some party women’s product company, … and I saw this! I had been praying I would do the right thing, and then this business idea presented itself. I was ready to get going within 10 minutes, before I’d seen the whole idea. I asked many, many questions, all answered. I would have been devastated if I’d had to wait. I meet people, show them the plan, and they too have been praying for something, someone, … they’ve already waited!! The most excited players, the motivated Right-now! Ones should never be asked to wait another 7 days to register! That’s a killer for my business building and a terrible blow to the new IBO who’s been waiting and watching, and wants to get started. **** I was told at the outset, that I could quit anytime I wanted to, with a full refund, that if I had purchased tools, they would be refunded totally, too. I was told about every facet of the business organization, how business was conducted, what the website and supplier company’s role was… in fact, I learned so much about business in the first week; that’s one of the greatest parts about it all: My business ownership, leadership, and personal development! I can’t loose being associated with this organization! I practice what I have learned: it’s called duplication, right up to the integrity of the company and the team. 7-day waiting period is not needed, when one can pull out with a full refund. **** I’ve addressed one piece of the proposed rule, because I lived it. I started my business less than twenty four hours after I saw the idea! What a life I have now! The team and the business idea met me where I was and taught me how to take others from where they are to where they want to go. You can’t legislate or put rules on people’s hearts and dreams. **** Thank you very much for your consideration. *** Sincerely, *** Marilyn D. Weigand *** IBO – Quixtar-powered Business Owner ***
