Dear Federal Trade Commission Member: I am writing to ask that you reconsider some of the requirements you are proposing to regulate the direct sales industry. My wife is a PartyLite Consultant and has had a successful busienss for the past 2 1/2 years. I have seen her grown significantly since she joined PartyLIte. The proposals you are suggesting would make her business much more difficult and will impact our household income. Companies like PartyLite, who have a proven track record for the past 30 years should be exempt from this type of regulation. They obviously are not a fly by night company trying to take advantage of people. I know PartyLite’s business opportunity is not a "scam". It helps thousands of people each year make their dreams come true. The regulations you are proposing would hinder her from doing so – and would hinder others in starting their business in the timeframe they choose. Please know that I’m thankful that we have the FTC working to protect average consumers like us, but in this case, you will be working against us and impacting our household income to the point where we may not be able to afford some of the necessesities we have grown accustomed to having. Please reconsider the regulations you are proposing. Respectfully yours, Peter Van Henkelum
