Business Opportunity Rule, Matter No. R511993 I am writing to ask that you reconsider the requirements you are proposing to regulate the direct sales industry. I have been involved in the home based business for over 28 years. I began my home based business to supplement our household income. My husband and I own a traditional business as well and look forward to the day we can retire. The income I earn part-time working Xango is now going into a retirement fund. I hope one day to be working Xango full time. The proposals you are suggesting would make my business much more difficult. Xango has a $35 membership fee and a 100% money back guarantee. There is no risk! The 7 day waiting period will hinder my efforts and others in starting their business in the timeframe they choose. Can you imagine this requirement on huge purchases like automobiles or TV's? The requirement to provide personal contact information is so out of bounds. How can this not become a privacy issue? I do not want my information given out freely nor do I want to give others information out. Having to give information on past lawsuits without also giving the outcome seems pointless. Don't take our chance away to provide more for our families. It is through the independent contractor that goods move and lives that are changed for the better. It is through education, not regulation that we learn to do our "due diligence" before getting involved. Respectfully yours, Debbie Lee
