Comments:
My wife and I have been IBO's in the Amway, and then Quixtar, business since 1993. We have been very satisfied with the success we and our downline have seen based on the effort we have put into building our business. When we registered, we received plenty of information to enable us to make an informed decision. We make it very clear to our prospects that our business is not a "get rich quick scheme". Those businesses that are in fact "get rich quick schemes" and "pyramid schemes" would benefit the most from these new rules, since they would lie and would not provide the information and would not wait the required amount of days. These new rules would hurt those businesses, like ours, which are acting legally and morally and ethically, and would serve to promote and benefit those which do not. Providing references, again, would disrupt our business and benefit the illegal ones. It is also a breach of privacy to provide such information, not to mention the fact that I do not want to promote someone else's business when trying to build my own. The requirement to provide a "litigation list" would just add insult to injury, as it would drum up all the false allegations that have been claimed against the innocent. Again, those who act "above the law" would not provide such lists and would stand to gain. Providing a prospect with earnings records would be another breach of privacy. We explain to them the potential and provide an average earnings record, etc. They do not need to know how much I or any other specific IBO is earning. Each and every one of these proposed rules would serve to benefit the very "companies" and individuals you are trying to "protect" the rest of us from. We provide our prospects with a form called the "SA-4400". It provides earning potential, explanations, rules, etc. to the prospect. They have a very accurate document in their hands to make an intelligent decision. Also, we provide all IBO's with the full return policy. I am sure the "schemes" cannot make such a claim. Please reconsider these proposed rules. Thank you. Rick Ellinger
