To Whom It May Concern: We are Jack and Felicia Horn of Cary, NC. Jack has a BA in Communications from Wingate University and Masters in Communications from Southwestern Theological Seminary. I have a BA in Psychology from UNCW. Jack has the background of being video editor and producers of several companies. I have a teaching background and now work in a law firm. Before we registered, we went to several meetings and met many people and asked questions and checked out both positive and negative things that were being said about business opportunity. We weighted both sides and decided to listen to the positives and we are glad that we did. We have been IBO’s since September of 1999, the launch of Quixtar. We’ve reached the 4000pv pin level (but over 5000pv each month now). Our next goal is 7500pv pin level by the end of this month, July 2006. We have learned so much from our business mentors and have met a lot of people and made lasting friendships. It has been a total positive experience for us. (People make things out to be what they want either positive or negative.) My husband lost his job after us moving to Raleigh from Wilmington back in 2001 and if wasn’t for the income we had coming in from our business, we would’ve had to move back to Wilmington and live with Jack’s parents. We have treated our business like a huge business before it’s developed and developing into one. When we work with and register people, we go through at least a 3 step process with them; 1-is preliminary interview, 2-attend an e-commerce seminar 3-follow-up of answering questions etc. We tell them: about the money back guarantee for 6 months on the start up cost (that excludes shipping and handling of products), we tell them of the “average” IBO income, we also tell them it is a business and there is work involved, that it’s not a “get rich scheme” and that their success depends on them and no one else. Most of the people we help to register personally and for others on our team the start up cost is usually $170 (includes start up cost and the “energy bundle product pack”). We also tell them where we are in the business and the range of money we make each month ranging from $900 - $1,500/month. We had replaced my teaching income in 6 months. Now according to the proposed rule, there are several issues we want to address. 1. 7 day waiting period – This would greatly hinder/slow our business growth and profitability. When people are excited about something they want to get started. Our experience is that if people wait even 3-5 days (due to scheduling/calendar situations) life gets in the way and then sometimes they don’t follow through with getting started. So, in registering someone new, if then they had to wait for 7 days to register people it would greatly inconvenience everyone and cut down on them being profitable too. 2. 10 references – We introduce people to others who are involved in our local area free to ask them questions etc. I feel that we already do this but in an informal way. To be required to carry around list of references to give out to people infringes on the act of peoples privacy and their trust in us. We appreciate what the FTC is trying to accomplish in cutting down on “get rich quick schemes” etc. Our business opportunity with Quixtar is a real business opportunity that is helping many people. We feel that these changes the FTC is trying to make would greatly hinder our business growth and profitability. Sincerely, Jack and Felicia Horn #1478983
