Sirs: Allow me to respond to the proposed rule regarding disclosure. I am an Independent Business Owner, affiliated with the Quixtar consolidation site and have been a member of this organization for approximately 13 years. I support reasonable rules that even the field with respect to standardized income disclosures for all direct sales organizations; and I support a reasonable cancellation policy. I do object to 7 day waiting periods, I object to a requirement for references from any number of local direct sellers in the same business - I would not want to be one of the references either and asking for disclosure of past litigation is ludicrous inasmuch as any company doing business in this country has had at least one lawsuit filed against it within the past 10 years. When I was invited to look at this business it was made very clear to me that the income potential was in direct correlation to the amount of work I was willing to put forth to build my business - that appealed to me inasmuch as everything I had been able to earn to that point was arbitrarily decided by someone else and bore no relation to either the quality or quantity of my output. The cost of participation was and is very reasonable and the products uniformly excellent. In addition, the conferences I have been able to attend have been invaluable to me in other work and relationships I have. I am always amazed when I am sent to employment related seminars that the material has already been covered in my personal business seminars, usually at a much reduced registration fee. I applaud your efforts to control scams and pyramid schemes but it seems to me there are already mechanisms in place to curtail these activities without creating onerous burdens on independent business owners who are creating a better life for themselves, their families and the individuals they are assisting. Sincerely, Mary Moreno
