My husband and myself have been involved with the Quixtar and TEAM business models for 3years now. We feel some of the proposed rules really do not apply to what the FTC is trying to do. Direct selling businesses are based on personal performance. Some people may never do anything, some people may take a while to create their business, and others perform from the start and sucess comes to them that much faster. We feel that the proposed rules as they stand would take our business backwards not helping it to move forward. If the FTC would like to help the general public do so by correctly informing the public of what direct selling is and help to educate the general public of what a scam is that there are business opportunities out there that are legal, moral, and ethical that they can succeed in doing if they put the work and effort into it. Help educate people that they have to work for their sucess it is not handed out. I would like to comment on the proposed rule for direct selling. Privacy Act paperwork is done in the office when the paitent comes in for an appointment into a healthcare providers office, why would this not also apply here. Making someone wait 7 days to start their business is hurting them the most, would you make someone wait to see a doctor? People can buy guns faster, that is not right. It is also going against the privacy of others to give their names out as references, which is also on the same above lines, we are going against the privacy act. To disclose income claims and personal income is not in the standard of doing business. Do any other businesses have to disclose to their customers their personal income information. Again, I feel this would be a direct violation of my personal privacy information. We feel that the protection of the general public is needed greatly but not by new laws and more paperwork that people do not understand. Why not just start educating people on what the truth is and start putting some old limiting beliefs and poor information to rest. Thank you for your time and effort. Christine Winkler
