My husband & I began our Amway/Quixtar business in 1979. He saw an opportunity to provide some security for me and the children that his employment would not provide and it was something I could do in the event he could no longer work. We were always very ethical and concerned that people were given the correct inofrmation to make an informed decision and we never presented it as a get rich quick scheme. Because we began in a small area, there were no others to get references from. We gave examples of people who had already succeeded and my husband always told the prospects that they did not need to make a decision at that time. If the opportunity was good today, it would be good tomorrow!! Why should we have to disclose our actual profit from a legitimate business any more then we had to tell them how much we make at our other employment. People who begin other enterprises-restaurants, services, etc. cannot go around to like business and ask them for documents that show their earnings!!! A person's success does not depend on what others do-it depends upon the effort they put into it. If a restuarant doesn't stay open on a daily basis and provide quality food and service, it will fail. These suggestions and controls seem to be targeted at only certain businesses and I think that is not right. I a grateful that my husband saw this opportunity because he passed away in 1999. I would have only had survivors Social Security and the small annuity from his employment to live on. I was able tocontinue the Quixtar business and the coninuing incoime from it has allowed me to be independent in my later years. I think the rules you are proposing would be detrimental to new people that want to do the business and when they start out, they have no income to prove and are usually a little short on their.belief in themselves. Don't take this opportunity away from some who can do what we did and make a secure future..
