I am in favor of prospects be given information to make an informed decision on a business opportunity. There should be a reasonable time allowed for cancellation if one changes their mind about doing business. Creating clear, simple standardized disclosures that apply to all direct sellers is a fair thing to do. There is no need to treat everyone who is offering a business opportunity like they are the bad guys, because a few that do wrong. Rulings requiring the prospect be given detail information finanically and reference on ones business associates takes away from creating a level playing field for the new business owner. They are just getting started in business. Most of them only know the person offering the business opportunity. It is great to have a system to handle information that the newest member or prospect has access to with direction to make informed decisions. This would encourage one to do business. It is great to have rules that are supportive to the legitimate business opportunity. Giving a lot of justifcations implies there is something wrong. This discourages and makes it difficult for someone new to handle so many objections. It would most likely cause them not to do business. Operating business as an independent business owner would be made difficult if the propsed ruling required everyone to disclose financial reports, references to prospects and legal allegations, lawsuits, arbitrations made against the parent company or other independent business owners over any period of time in document form would discourage business. Most prospects are interested in how much money they can make and what do they need to do to make this money. This is what I have encountered being an independent business owner for over twenty years. Rules that encourage a level playing field with standards for all direct selling be the same is a good thing. It would be appreciated if this is taken in considerations when the rules are established for Business Opportunity.
