My wife and I have been involved in the direct selling industry for 13 years now and have found this type of business to be a perfect opportunity for us to have a home based business. We truly enjoy working together and are very thankful for the people who offered us this opportunity as well as the companies that support us. We are currently working with Quixtar.com. When I was presented the business opportunity I was led through a multiple step process that shared: a 100% money back guarantee should I choose not to continue with my business, a disclosure of how the income could be generated (never was I led to believe it to be a guarantee as some people will always work harder than others), a statement regarding average earnings, a statement regarding percentage of people who achieve certain levels of success, a chance for me to meet other business owners in person and get my questions and concerns answered. I believe that when this opportunity was presented to me, the team more than adequately supplied me with information to make an educated decision that was best for me. Additional rules and information would not have made me better informed and might in fact have discouraged me from developing this business that has so positively impacted our entire family. I am in total agreement that businesses that operate in the United States should be held to a standard of integrity and accountability. In fact, it is those businesses that don't adhere to some standards that give our industry a bad name. However, I also enjoy the fact that we live in a free country with the possibility for an individual family to enterprise freely without regulations and rules that could potentially harm ones ability to succeed honestly. I understand the proposed rules to include; 1. requiring a 7 day waiting period which would be unecessary since we currently use a multiple step process to screen potential partners and provide 100% money back guarantee. 2. requiring a list of referrals which would be unecessary since we allow every prospect to meet and interact with team members of every success level prior to making any decisions. 3. disclosing legal allegations which would be unecessary since most allegations would not affect the individual and many may in fact be bogus. Unfortunately we live in a society that is quick to sue regardless of the merits of the lawsuit and this could do the exact opposite of it's intention since it could give a FALSE impression of the business. 4. Disclosing and substantiating of income levels beyond what we already provide which would be unecessary since each prospect is informed that results vary based on individual. No guarantees are made and this is very clear to every prospect. Given the way I was presented this opportunity and the way we continue to present it to others, I feel that the proposed rules would not better inform a prospect of our business opportunity and would only impose unnecessary restrictions on those of us who were attracted to this opportunity for the freedom and flexibility that it offers American citizens. Thank you for considering my comments.
