Once again the government is attempting to overstep the boundaries of their authority with this ruling. I am a Marine Corps Veteran and a patriot who feels that the government has taken on too much self importance in a lot of areas. The job of the FTC is not to control business with such rules and laws but to protect the public from fraud. By these proposed rules it is attempting to become a dictatorship and control all business. What comes after the control of the direct selling contingent of our society?? Then comes rules to more strictly control franchises', then individually owned small businesses, and finally the bigger chain stores which are every where. I and my fellow veterans did not serve to protect the rights given in the constitution of the United States and the Declaration of Independence to have some un-elected, civilian, unqualified group of people take away our rights with rulings and laws which will effectively make our commerce the same as it is in the USSR or other dictatorship countries. The business owners are completely controlled by those governments. The constitution guarantees us certain rights and freedoms and one of them is the right to suceed and build a business with out interference from the government. This ruling and rules will not protect the consumer but hurt in the long run when freedom of choice is taken from them. People who are taken in by scams and frauds are generally those who do not investigate or take precautions as advised and would not benefit from your rulings. Those companies (who are the bad guys) that need these rulings to be enforced will not follow them any way so you are only attempting to control the legitimate businesses with these rules. I agree that there should be some way to control and prevent the fraudulent companies and persons from taking advantage of the unaware who are taken in by their scams, but this control is not the answer. The most realistic answer is to first enforce the existing rules and regulations to weed out the bad ones. These rulings are like throwing out a whole crop of apples because one was wormy. You nor would anyone else do that so why punish and control the good guys to get rid of the bad guys?? Think About it.
