My wife and have owned our business since 1975. The Amway Business model [now Quixtar] allowed me to retire early from General Motors management. I'm very certain at this point that I was not given all the information that you are going to require of future candidates. I do know that I probably would be living a much less grand lifestyle than I currently do had I not pursued this venture. Currently, we expose the business model to new candidates with more than adequate information [less the hype] and even send new candidate’s home with an information pack if they express an interest in looking into the business further. We have nothing to hide and actually request that they check us out from the inside out. Additionally, in the presentation of the business model, we let them know that this is not a get rich quick scheme. It requires ambition, a reason why, and a bit of teach ability. I only wish that these same restraints [that an apparently disappointed candidate has whined about] could be placed on the Lottery, The Live Poker games and other chancy things. This business model is 100% predictable if you follow the system and put in the consistent effort that any business would ask of you. I knew going in that I would have to work hard and that it might take a year or two to develop my skills enough to be effective. When I went to college, I knew that I would have to study hard [without any initial pay] to obtain a job that would pay me what that job was worth. The difference here is that today I have a business that I can call my own and that my children and grandchildren can build on top of what we have developed. I did not know that I would become a better dad, a better husband, a better citizen of the world [yes, I have business in 4 other foreign countries today.] I had no idea that I would be able to travel to countries like the Philippines and make some very dear friends. I had no idea of the honors that would be bestowed upon my wife and me because we gave people a chance at a new life. Please punish the bad guys [they give all of us a bad name - and it should not be hard to sort them out by the 'fruit' they produce] but don't burden those of us who pursue a legitimate business model with character and integrity. Thank you for reading, Bob Wittig
