I am writing in oppostion to the so called "Business Opportunity" rule (16 CFR Part 437) that would impose a seven day waiting period before being able to sign up new associates for our business, provide names and phone numbers of the last 10 purchasers (confidentiality problem???) and to provide a list of lawsuits filed against the company for the past 10 years. This rule would negatively affect thousands of honest, hard-working Americans in an effort to restrict the actions of a dishonest few. Place penalties on those who defraud the public, not on the legitimate business owners. Please see the attached copy of a letter from the United States Chamber of Commerce showing its support for Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. This company is a leader in creating opportunities for thousands of Americans and has been recognized for the highest standards of ethics and integrity. I am an attorney (actively practiced law for 15 years before retiring 9 years ago) and I can say unequivocally (echoing the words of Mike Moore of Mississippi) that this is the best thing that has happened to our legal system. Please find another way to deal with the fraudsters without punishing the thousands of Americans who, in the truest entrepreneurial spirit, are working home based businesses in an effort to provide their families with financial freedom and to pursue their dreams Thank you for your time reading my letter.
